Single Mothers Student Success Scholar Program - Designed to assist financially disadvantaged single mothers and young women achieve their higher education and career goals.

Why We Care

Many underrepresented single mother families and young women have less education, lower household incomes, and higher poverty rates. By attaining a career related post-secondary education, coupled with personal and professional enrichment this can be a pathway and game changer for transforming poverty into prosperity, and meeting the demands of a changing economy.

Our Mission

The mission of Single Mothers Student Success (SMSS) is to create a supportive environment where low-income, underserved, first-time and returning single mother students and young women are educated, equipped and empowered to excel academically, personally and professionally.

Program Overview

Single Mothers Student Success (SMSS) is a 501 (c)3 community-based nonprofit organization in San Diego County. At SMSS, we provide financially disadvantaged first-time and returning single mother students and young women aged 18-28 with practical application tools, encouragement, and a supportive environment, all made possible by our community’s involvement. Together, we help program participants pursue their higher education, career goals and financial independence.
